Institutional:

Includes academic health science organizations, hospitals and health care organizations where teaching and research are part of the organization’s mandate, regional health authorities with teaching and research mandates, and national and/or provincial health service delivery organizations with teaching & research mandates.

Members at the institutional level may name up to five (5) senior and/or emerging nurse leaders from their respective organizations, with each such nurse leader having one (1) vote as members of the Organization.

Organizations that hold an institutional membership may wish to enroll an additional two senior nursing leaders as part of the ACEN membership at an additional fee. Each additional member shall have one (1) vote as members of the Organization.

General:

Includes individual deans and directors of university faculties/schools of nursing, nurse executives of national and provincial organizations, nurses in senior executive positions in government, and senior nurse researchers whose research supports the mandate of ACEN. Each member shall have one (1) vote as members of the Organization.

Note that General Membership is not available to nurse executives who work in settings that meet the Institutional criteria.

Senior nurse leaders who are in a transition of temporary unemployment, and were recent members of ACEN, are eligible to join as General Members for a period of up to 24 months. During this transition period, these members may serve on committees, but are not eligible to assume or campaign to assume the office of President-elect or President. Each shall have one (1) vote.

Retired member:

Retired members: former ACEN members who retire (are no longer employed) but wish to remain active within the organization are eligible. Retired members are not eligible to hold office of President elect or President. Each shall have one (1) vote.
